The Clarendon Broncos failed to outlast Panhandle on the road last Tuesday night and dropped their last district game 39-67.
In a game that was closer than the score revealed, the Broncos regrouped after a slow-shooting first quarter to get within three points of the Panthers. But a devastating third quarter sealed the loss for the Broncos as Panhandle had worked up too much of a lead to be overtaken.
“We did a great job of getting back into the game in the second quarter,” head coach Brandt Lockhart said. “In the third quarter, we turned the ball over and they were able to get more scoring opportunities.”
Scoring: JoJo Cartwright 15, Cedrick McCampbell 12, Charles Mason 6, Chance Lockhart 5, and Ashton Smith 1.
On Friday, the Broncos played a warm-up game in preparation for post-season play against the Amarillo Flames and fell short 48-55. The Broncos trailed the Flames throughout and could never get in a rhythm on either end of the court.
McCampbell scored 15 and Cartwright finished with 11 to lead the Broncos on the scoreboard.
