The Lady Broncos earned a huge 22-3 win over San Jacinto at home last Tuesday.
According to head coach Gary Jack, everyone played pretty good and Brooke Martin, Sterling King and Taylor DeGrate pitched well. Also, everyone hit the ball well. They are 7-2 overall.
The Lady Broncos then went up against a good Claude team in a district game and came up short at 12-15.
“We fell behind 0-4 in the first inning, then 2-9 in the fourth inning,” Jack said. “We battled back to tie it up at 9-9 to start the seventh inning. They scored six runs in their half and we scored three to finish the game.”
Jack felt the ladies played okay but had too many routine errors to win.
“We will have to do a better job the next time we face them,” Jack said.
Jack said Audra Thomas, Skyler White, Haley Ferguson, Taylor Gaines, Briley Chadwick, and Savannah Topper all hit the ball well and on the defensive side Ferguson played very well at catcher, but errors in the field hurt them. Camra Smith pitched all but the first inning and kept the Lady Broncos in the game, according to Jack.
The ladies will host McLean on Saturday, March 29, at 1:00 p.m. and play Follett at home on Tuesday, April 1, at 4:00 p.m.
