Carolyn Gayle Peeples Hamby, 70, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, in Clarendon.
Services were held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, in the Robertson Funeral Directors Saints’ Roost Chapel in Clarendon with Rev. Lloyd Stice, officiating.
Burial followed at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.
Arrangements were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Mrs. Hamby was born March 31, 1944, in Wellington, Texas to Oscar Ray and Helen Clyde Clement Peeples. She married Ray Hamby in March of 1988 in Amarillo. She had been an office clerk in the oil and gas industry, most recently working for Pioneer National. Growing up, Gayle won numerous beauty pageants in the panhandle area, loved to dance, was in the band, and was a cheerleader. She enjoyed creating ceramic pieces of art and had organized the Mime Club for the Methodist church in Clarendon. Gayle was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon.
She was preceded in death by her father; and by a sister Kye Henderson.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Hamby of Clarendon; her mother Helen Peeples of Canyon; 2 sons, Bret and Shane Gray, both of Canyon; a step son Greg Hamby of Houston; a brother, Kent Peeples of Canyon; and by 1 grandchild.
The family requests that memorials be sent to a favorite organization or charity of one’s choice.
