The Clarendon High School and the Junior High set a great precedent Saturday in Borger in their opening cross-country meet of the season. Several runners set great times and finished in the top 25 in a tough meet with 3A and 4A schools in attendance.
Lady Bronco Allyson Grahn finished seventh in the varsity girls and Abby Johnson finished directly behind her in eighth place. Sarah Williams was 80th, Skyler White was 91st, and Whitney Laroe was 92nd. The Lady Broncos finished nine as a team in a field of 104 runners. The Broncos made a good showing as well. Bryce Grahn was fifth in the varsity boy’s division, and Colt Wood was 29th. Damarjae Cortez was 66th, Steven Johnson was 71st, and Lee Buckhaults was 82nd. The Broncos finished eighth as a team over a field of 93 young men.
There were 115 girls running in the junior high division and Brandalyn Ellis finished 43rd. Gavin Word received a medal in the junior high boys division finishing in 24th. Preston Elam was 26th, Caton Grahn was 34th, Isaac Dunham was 36th, and Noab Elam was 49th.
The next cross-country meet will be held Saturday, September 6 in Plainview.
