James Edward “Slick” Johnston, 86, died Monday, October 6, 2014, in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014, in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with Don Johnston, officiating.
Burial will follow with US Army Honors will be in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.
Arrangements are under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Slick was born April 20, 1928, in Clarendon to Robert and Goldie Johnston. He married Mai Truong on August 14, 1972, in Vietnam. He had been a US Army veteran and retired after 24 years of service. He had been a resident of Clarendon since 1974.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Walter, Henry, & William; and a sister, Lucille.
He is survived by his wife, Mai Johnston of Clarendon; a step daughter, Xuan Ho of Austin; a sister in law, Lillian Johnston of Fritch; and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that memorials be to the Wounded Warrior Project.
