The Lady Broncos are putting it all together and last week the team earned two big wins at home.
Last Tuesday, the ladies destroyed Fritch, 57-23. Aggressive play catapulted the ladies to the win as they gave a great effort on the court.
The Lady Broncos took the early lead doubling their first quarter score to lead by 19 points at the break. A 21-point third quarter sealed the win for the ladies and the Lady Eagles were stalled out by the Clarendon defense.
Senior Allyson Grahn was on fire from three-point range as she hit five threes and shot 100 percent from the charity stripe going six for six. Grahn led the Lady Broncos with 21 points.
All together the ladies connected on seven threes and made 11 out of 16 free throws. Carlee Johnson and Hannah Howard turned in nine points, and Taylor Gaines added eight. Skyler White finished with five, and Hannah Hommel put in four.
The Lady Broncos continued their hard work on the court on Friday night when they routed Highland Park, 62-35. After a somewhat close first half of play, the ladies turned up the heat after the break and showed their dominance on both ends of the court. Teamwork was the name of the game, as they stayed solid to get the win.
Grahn had a stellar game once again as she pumped in 27 points that included four three-pointers and shot 77 percent from the bonus line. Fellow senior Taylor Gaines also had an awesome night racking up 15 points and going 11 out of 12 from the bonus and Johnson finished in double figures as well with 11 points. Howard put in six and White added three.
New head coach Kalen Grahn was pleased with the effort by the Lady Broncos.
“Our defense is playing well,” Grahn said. “We lost Taylor DeGrate for a while, so we have six girls in our rotation and they are all doing a good job. Skyler White is doing a good job of rebounding and adding a few points for us. But we have to have to continue to rebound.”
Offensively, Grahn likes the fact that the Lady Broncos averaged sixty points in the two games.
“Allyson and Taylor (Gaines) are scoring a lot for us,” he said. “Carlee and Hannah Howard are stepping up and contributing, too. We are working hard to get better.”
The Lady Broncos will travel to River Road on Tuesday, December 2, and play at 6:30 p.m. They will participate in the Claude Tournament December 4-6 with times to be announced.
