Clarence Edward “Buster” Bertrand, 94, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014.
Rosary was said on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Mass was celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, in St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. John Dalton and the Rev. B. Chinninniah officiating. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Buster was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Clifton to Adolph and Ida Bertrand. He proudly served his country in the Army. Buster married Margaret Grabber on Sept. 22, 1943, at St. Francis Catholic Church, where he was a longtime member. He farmed and ranched all of his life and was a partner in B&H Cattle Company. Buster was a big supporter and adult leader of 4-H for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Mary Ann Bertrand and Louise Carol Ropes; a sister, Doodle Raef; and three great-grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter, Judy Kay Tomlinson of Amarillo; four sons, Buddy Bertrand and wife Terry of Amarillo, Harold Bertrand and wife Sharon of Panhandle, Roy D. Bertrand and wife Denise of Clarendon and Laurence Bertrand and wife Sandy of Amarillo; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Francis Memorial Fund or School Sisters of St. Francis of Panhandle.
