The 2015 Clarendon High School UIL academic teams are off and competing, and several students won medals at the West Texas Invitational Academic Meet Saturday.
Caleb Cobb placed first in both Ready Writing and Current Issues & Events, and the CI & E team of Caleb Cobb, Joshua Cobb, and Andy Davis placed third.
Chesson Sims won gold medals for overall Science score and Chemistry. The Science team of Sims, Cedrick McCampbell, Hannah Howard, Riley Shadle, Steven Johnson, and Aubryanna Powell placed first. McCampbell won the silver medal for overall performance and was 2nd in Biology, and Hannah Howard placed 4th high as an individual.
Other students who placed included Abby Johnson (4th in Spelling), Kendra Davis (6th in Literary Criticism), and Cire Jauregui (5th in Mathematics).
The meet was a large one with twelve schools competing, including Canadian, Sanford-Fritch, Dumas, Dalhart, Perryton, Borger, and Gruver.
Sponsors are excited about the results and begin preparation for the next invitational meet February 14 in Canadian.
