Nancy Darlene Davis, 76, died Sunday, January 4, 2015 in Clarendon.
Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015, in Robertson Funeral Directors Saints’ Roost Chapel in Clarendon with Rev. Dave Stout and Rev. C.W. Parker, officiating.
Burial will follow in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon

Nancy was born February 25, 1938, to George Clifton and Dorothy Amelia Walker in Los Angeles, California. When she was 6 years old her parents moved to Briscoe when her grandfather W.M. Lohberger became ill. This place was settled in 1905 and was recognized in 2011 on the senate floor at the Austin Capitol. She attended school at Briscoe and Clarendon College. She married Charles Davis on July 10, 1954, at the Catholic Church in Canadian, Texas and into this family 2 daughters and two sons was born. In 1966 she joined the Pampa Chapter of “The Women of the Moose” serving in all the elective offices. She earned her Academy of friendship and College of Regents Degrees in Ft. Worth in 1968 and Chicago, Illnois in 1974. In 1979 she was selected to serve as Deputy Grand Regent of Texas in Los Angeles, California. International appointments from over half million members was College of Regent Board member (4 member board) appointed in New Orleans, LA 1984-1986. Grand council (8 member council) appointed in Orlando, Florida 1991-1993. In the spring of 1993 Charles and Nancy moved to Howardwick at Greenbelt Lake, retirement was planned by the City changed those plans. She served 4 ½ years as alderman and 2 years as Pro Tem Mayor. In 2000 she was elected Mayor of Howardwick and served 2 ½ years before resigning to care for their oldest daughter with cancer. She was a member of the Clarendon Country Club and Card Club and also Classic Dames Red Hat Club. She also served on the Burton Library Board in Clarendon.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellie Darlene Usleton; one son in law, Harley Douglas Woods; one great granddaughter, Brooke Baldwin; her parents, Cliff and Dorothy Walker; a brother, James Walker; and one nephew, Cody Reed Walker.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Davis of Howardwick; a daughter, D’Anne Woods of Pflugerville; 2 sons, Danby Davis and wife Julie of Amarillo and Don Alton Davis of Pampa; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, William Dean Walker of Ruidoso, New Mexico; 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
The family request memorials be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the First Baptist Church in Howardwick.
