Coleman Huffman Jr., 93, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015 in Amarillo.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at Citizens Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
“Colie,” as his friends and family called him, grew up in Clarendon, Texas and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After completing his military service Colie attended Texas College of the Mines in El Paso “UTEP”, and played football for the Minors. Football became his passion for the next 41 years. He became one of the most successful high school coaches ever to coach in the panhandle of Texas. Coach Huffman holds the honor of being a member of both the Top of Texas Coaches Hall of Fame and the Texas High School Coaches Hall of Honor.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Betty Geraldine Huffman.
He is survived by three step-children; Penny Hart of Amarillo, Texas; Paul Hart of Midland, Texas; and Phil Hart of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to the West Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s association be made in lieu of flowers.
