The 2015-16 Lady Broncos took the court for the first time this season against Follett on the road and Claude at home.
Despite the losses, the ladies are determined to regroup and continue working hard to put some wins together. They were defeated 29-63 at Follett and 32-67 at home against Claude.
Briana Butler led the Lady Broncos in the Follett game with nine points, and Shaelyn Owiti followed up with five. The ladies played catch up most of the game after a slow start, but began to develop a rhythm before half time.
Jensen Hatley and Sterling King each nailed a three-pointer, and Briley Chadwick and Berkeley Alexander also added three. Hannah Howard had two, and Hannah Hommel put in one.
Once again Butler led the ladies on the scoreboard in the Claude game with 12 points. Again, the Lady Broncos suffered a slow first half, but came back in the fourth quarter with thirteen team points. Chadwick put in six, Howard had five, and Owiti helped with four. Hatley and Alexander had two and Amelia Weatherton put in one free throw.
“We opened up with two very good basketball teams,” coach Kalen Grahn said. “The girls are working hard to find our identity. Our effort has been good. We just need to keep working to better ourselves.”
The Lady Broncos will travel to Highland Park November 20 and go to Perryton on November 24 with game times at 6:00 p.m.
