Filing is now open for seven local governments that are scheduled to hold elections this spring.
The cities of Clarendon, Hedley, and Howardwick; the Clarendon and Hedley school districts; the Clarendon College District; and the Donley County Hospital District all have board positions available this year.
In Clarendon, the two-year terms of Aldermen Beverly Burrow, Larry Jeffers, and John Lockhart are up.
Hedley’s Mayor Leon Ward and Aldermen Lonnie Roby and Dusty Wilkinson also have terms that are expiring with each position having a two-year term.
Howardwick Aldermen Robert Brewster, Sam Grider and Mac Miller are also at the end of two-year terms.
Clarendon ISD Trustees serve three years, and the terms of Robin Ellis, Chuck Robertson, and Jim Shelton are expiring this year.
Hedley ISD has two full three-year terms and two partial terms with one year remaining up this year. The full terms of Aaron Harper and Lana Ritchie are up, and Michael Metcalf and Billy Hall have been appointed to fill unexpired terms and must run to continue to serve.
Three full terms and one partial term are up on the Clarendon College Board of Regents. The six-year terms of Ruth Robinson, Susie Shields, and Lon Adams (filling the late Tex Selvidge’s seat) are up, and four years remain on the seat now held by Darlene Spier, who was appointed after John Howard resigned to serve as county judge.
The Donley County Hospital District Board of Directors has four two-year terms up this year. Those are currently held by Jan Farris – Place 4, Jennie Owens – Place 5, Lori Howard – Place 6, and Mark C. White – Place 7.
All local boards are elected at-large, but hospital board candidates must file for a specific place on the ballot.
Filing began Wednesday, January 20, and runs through Friday, February 19. Elections are scheduled to be held Saturday, May 7, 2016.
