The Lady Broncos traveled to Shamrock last Tuesday night and earned their first District win at 43-35.
The game was close in the first half with just four points separating the teams at the break. Determined to get the win, the Lady Broncos came out after the break and executed their offense good enough to take the lead and outscore the Lady Irish by nine points and take a five-point lead in to the final quarter.
Defensively, the Lady Broncos stayed strong and focused to get the eight-point win. Brianna Butler scored 14 points to lead the team, and Hannah Howard put in nine. Hannah Hommel and Berkeley Alexander worked hard inside to score six points each, while Shaelyn Owiti put in four, and Jensen Hatley connected with a three pointer to finish scoring.
On Friday, the Lady Broncos hosted Wellington and lost 21-57. The Lady Broncos suffered from cold shooting and could never get anything going offensively. they were able to shoot 75 percent from the bonus line, but it was not enough to overtake a powerful Lady Rocket team.
Hommel put in eight and Owiti added five points. Allyson Hogan had three, Butler and Emily Johnson each put in two, and Howard had one.
The Lady Broncos will travel to Wheeler on Friday, January 29, and go up against Memphis at home on Tuesday, February 2, at 6:30 pm.
