The Clarendon Broncos are continuing their tough schedule and breezed by Valley last Saturday 15-4.
The Broncos scored 11 runs in the first three innings of play and had little trouble with the Patriots.
The Broncos posted a dominating first inning to get the big lead as Kade Hunsaker hit an RBI single, Nick Shadle slammed an RBI double, and Andy Davis added a two-run single.
In the second inning of play, Caleb Cobb had an RBI double, and Shadle was able to come up with another RBI single. Preston Elam had a big game for the Broncos getting on base four times and scoring three runs with one RBI. Elam hit a double in the first inning and singled in the third and fourth innings.
The Broncos had a total of 14 hits, 10 RBIs adding to their run total. Josh Cobb and Clay Koetting also added to the scoreboard for the Broncos.
The Broncos ran into a roadblock against River Road last week. They lost at home to the Wildcats, 9-11.
River Road took an early lead in the match up as they scored three runs in the first inning. But a Bronco error allowed the Wildcats to score a pair of runs. The Broncos were able to put some runs on the board in the third, sixth, and seventh innings, but River Road took the lead for good in the ninth to get the win.
“We didn’t hit or field very well,” coach Brad Elam said. “Our pitching walked too many people and we were still in a position to beat an undefeated and very good River Road team. I thought we were farther along than we really are, so we will go back to work and clean some things up.”
The Broncos will be at home against Kress April 1 at 1:00 p.m. and travel to Wellington April 4 at 4:00 and host Nazareth on April 8 beginning at 4:00 p.m.
