Jewel Ismanell Gray, 91, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, in Amarillo.
Services were held on Saturday, April 16, 2016, in the First Assembly of God Church in Clarendon with Rev. Matthew Stidham, officiating.
Burial followed at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.
Arrangements were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Mrs. Gray was born January 3, 1925, in Clay County, Texas to George and Ollie Johnson. She married Vance Gray on May 30, 1941, in Hedley. She moved to Donley County at the age of 10. She was a member of the Pathfinders Club and the Red Hatters Club. She survived 13 years of being a dorm mother at Clarendon College in Knorpp Hall. She was awarded the Donley County Pioneer Woman of the Year several years ago. She was a great cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1996; and a daughter, Jeanne Gray Tittle in 1998.
She is survived by 3 sons, Jerry Gray and wife Gloria of Canyon, Larry Gray and wife Derlene, and Buster Gray and wife Linda all of Clarendon; a daughter, Charlene Brown and husband Butch of Floydada; a sister, Joyce Jackson of Lubbock; a sister in law, Blanch Gray of Parker County, Colorado; 15 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to Donley County Senior Citizens in Clarendon or Citizens Cemetery Association in Clarendon
