Nelda Lee Harrison Jones, 86, died Thursday, April 21, 2016, in Amarillo.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 25, 2016, in Robertson Saint’s Roost Chapel in Clarendon, with Bryan Cooper Officiating.
Burial followed at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.
Arrangements were under the direct of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Nelda Harrison Jones was born in Clarendon on March 25, 1930, to Hawley and Corrine Harrison, and was one of seven children. She married J.D. Jones, Jr. on December 14, 1948. They were married 63 years before J.D.’s death in 2012. Nelda was an extremely loving and caring person, working in her church and various other civic organizations. She was a member of Coulter Road Baptist Church in Amarillo. Nelda worked in banking, both in Clarendon and Dalhart, before she retired with J.D. to move to Amarillo in 1997. She was a breast cancer survivor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and two brothers.
She is survived by two children: Michael Wayne Jones and wife Jamie of Dalhart, and Karen Jones Cozart of Amarillo; her brother, Hawley Harrison, Jr. and wife Emma Jean of Burley, Idaho; her grandchildren, Contessa Foster Waddell and husband Scott of Claude, Ramey Cozart of Guymon, Okla., Jeremy Jones and wife Kelly of Dalhart, Shawn Jones and his wife JoJo, and Christine Jones of Helper, Utah, and Samantha Hopper of Dalhart: and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family suggests donations to the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure, or Golden Spread Charities.
