Margaret Jean Williams, of Cahone, Colorado, passed to Heaven the first day of September, 2016, at the age of 92. Jean was an extraordinary woman: witty and creative, wise and kind, hardworking, and a gifted pianist who played for many events and church services. She was born May 13, 1924, to DeVerdie and Grace Leathers, near Lelia Lake, Texas, and attended Lelia Lake and Clarendon schools. Jean married her high school sweetheart, and became a teacher for 41 years in Texas, SW Colorado, and Arizona. She was a cancer survivor but had other health issues in her later years.
Jean was preceded in death by a son, Jay. She is survived by her husband, Judson, of the family home; daughter, Sharon McAnear, of Durango, Colorado; son, Jan, of Cahone; brother, Johnny Leathers, of Bonham, Texas; one granddaughter, four grandsons, and ten great-grandchildren, the youngest of whom was born within hours of Jean’s passing and shares her middle name.
Margaret Jean loved the mountains and was laid to rest near Kline, Colorado.
