The Broncos took on the Hale Center Owls at home Friday night in their Homecoming game and gained the win at 28-20. The Broncos posted 130 yards rushing and 100 yards in the air for 230 total yards in the game.
Junior quarterback Brock Hatley connected on eight out of thirteen for the 100 yards passing and hit Lamarcus Peniger from 13 yards out for six points. Hatley also hit receivers Sylvester Ballard for 23 yards and Jmaury Davis twice for 61 yards.
The Broncos were impressive on the rushing side as well. Antwann Bassett led the way with 66 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns, and Peniger carried six times for 27 yards. Ballard racked up 21 yards on seven carries, Davis carried seven times as well and finished with nine yards, and Koyt Tucek got his hands on the football for one carry and eight yards.
Defensively the Broncos were strong and held off a comeback attempt late in the game. Jordan Herndon played solid with 12 tackles, one interception and two QB sacks, and Rhett Caison helped with 10 tackles. Davis had one sack, one interception, and seven tackles, while Hatley posted six tackles. Tucek, Robert McGuire, and Bassett had eight tackles each in the game.
The Broncos will travel to Quanah to face off against the Indians Friday, September 25, at 7:00 p.m.
