Mary Ellen Castner, 98, of Hobbs, New Mexico, formerly of Lelia Lake and Clarendon, went to her eternal home on Thursday, February 24, 2022.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 28, 2022, in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with Bro. Anthony Knowles officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Mary was born July 17, 1923, in Van Zant County, Texas, to Euley and Merle Henderson. She married Ronald Castner and they were blessed with four daughters, Carolyn and Lyndel Moffett of Hobbs, NM, Judy Castner of Amarillo, Jeanie Lauderdale of Amarillo, and Cathy and David McDaniel of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; five precious grandchildren, Bud and Diana Courtney of St. Cloud, Flordia, Cindy and David Sadler of Hobbs, New Mexico, Shannon Longan of Amarillo, Shauna and Jr. Boltz of Canyon, and Katrina and Bennie Holcomb of Denison, Texas; seven very special great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
She was Postmaster at the Lelia Lake post office for many years until her retirement. Mary was a member of United Methodist Church in Lelia Lake, and later attended First Baptist Church in Clarendon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald, in 1992; her parents; one brother, Andrew Henderson; and two sisters, Opal Milner and Ida Smith.
Rest in peace our beloved Mama and Grannie beside our beloved Daddy and Papa.
The family requests any memorials be sent to Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.
