The Lady Broncos stepped into the Area round with a big win over Quanah in two games. They will take on Forsan in the Area game that will take place in Littlefield on Thursday, May 5, at 6:30 p.m.
The Lady Broncos ousted Quanah in a big way in the best two out of three series last week. They blasted Quanah 23-0 in the first game and won 22-3 in the second.
According to head coach Brad Elam, the ladies did not have a lot of chances to hit the ball but were able to bring runs home. Senior Jentrye Bellar racked up 6 RBIs and two runs, and Hayden Elam helped with two runs and two RBIs. Kennadie Cummins posted three runs, Tandie Cummins added three runs, and Madie Smith had two. Bayleigh Bruce, Elyza Rodriguez, and Avery Sawyer had two runs each. Senior Madie Smith was on the mound and pitched four good innings giving up only one hit while striking out seven batters.
Game two was much the same for the ladies behind the pitching of Tandie and Kennadie who struck out seven in their time on the mound.
Bellar has played strong all season and this game was no different as she slammed her fourth home run of the season and added a double with four runs and four RBIs. Bruce knocked down a big triple and drove in four runners while Elam went two for three with two triples, two RBIs, and three runs. T. Cummins had a double and two runs, while Smith went two for two from the plate with two RBIs and three runs. Jayde Gribble reached base three different times and scored all three times.
