A Clarendon man died Wednesday in a single vehicle accident east of Goodnight, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Samuel Kinley Shoels, 77, was pronounced dead at the scene following injuries sustained in the accident.
Shoels was driving a 2007 Buick LeSabre northbound on US 287 at 10:14 pm on November 14 when it traveled off the roadway and through the grassy bar ditch about 2.6 miles east of Goodnight. The car went into a side skid as it reached the pavement in the northbound rest area and collided with a tree before coming to final rest in the bar ditch
Ella Bryley, age 61, also of Clarendon, was a passenger in the car and was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo by Associated Ambulance Authority for treatment.
