Loy “Red” Davis

Loy “Red” Davis, 89, of Clarendon, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, in Clarendon.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 AM Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon with Chris Downer officiating. Burial will follow in Citizens Cemetery.

Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 22nd from 8 AM – 6 PM with family receiving friends for visitation from 4 – 6 PM.

Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.

Loy “Red” Jackson Davis was born on October 4, 1934, to Mason and Fannie (McWhorter) Davis. Red was born and raised in Lockney, and graduated from Lockney High School. After completing school, Red worked in Plainview for Goodyear for several years. On February 1, 1969, Red married Alta June Seymour in Plainview. They were married two weeks shy of 55 years.

Red and June moved their family to Clarendon in 1977 where they have been residents for 47 years. Red was a farmer and rancher, and retired after 45 years working for the Craft Ranch. Aside from his love for ranching, Red enjoyed going to the lake. On a warm day, he could be found on a boat skiing. Red also enjoyed going to the coffee shop to visit with his friends.

Red was a member of Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon. Above all, Red deeply cherished his family. He loved spending time with his children, and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. He wore a smile everywhere he went, which made it easy for everyone to love him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mason and Fannie Davis; three sons, Jackie Davis, Barry and Kelly Curry; four brothers, Edward, Kenton, Jerry and Thurman Davis; sister, Catherine Foraker; granddaughter, Tabitha Curry; and son-in -law, Ike O’Neal.

Red is survived by his wife, June of Clarendon; two sons, Tommy Davis and Todd Curry, both of Clarendon; two daughters, Cindy Gayle and husband, Charlie, of Houston, and Sonja O’Neal of Clarendon; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
