Bronco baseball in full swing

The Bronco baseball team played three games last week as they dive into the 2024 season. The Broncos finished the games with a tie, a win, and a loss.

The Broncos met up against the Claude Mustangs and finished the game at five all after six innings. Easton Frausto was on the mound for four innings and allowed three hits, four runs, and struck out six. Jared Musick came in and pitched two innings and allowed three hits, one run, and two strike-outs.

On the offensive side, Frausto collected one run, two hits and an RBI, while Musick posted one hit in the game. Harrison Howard added one run, and third baseman Bryce Williams had one run, one hit, one RBI, and one stolen base. Lyric Smith had a run and two stolen bases and Levi Gates had one hit and 2 RBIs. Mason Sims had one stolen base and Shane Hagood had one run and one stolen base as the DH.

The Broncos won a huge second game of the Childress Tournament over Fritch 16-1. Howard was on the mound and allowed two hits and one run with nine strike outs. The Broncos found the sweet spot early in the game and only needed three innings to get the win.

The Broncos had their bats going with several players hitting the ball well. Musick had a big day at the plate with a single, double, and a homerun. Musick also posted three RBI and three runs. Gates had two singles, one RBI, and two runs. Braylon Rice saw some action with two singles, 1 RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.

The Broncos dropped a game to the host team at 5-7. They suffered a slow day at the plate and only mustered four hits and recorded four errors in the game. They were scoreless until the sixth inning when they put three runs on the board to tie the score.

Bryce Williams began the game pitching for three innings. Williams allowed three hits and two runs in his time on the mound. Braylon Rice came in for an inning and allowed five runs. Grant Haynes and Musick each took a turn at the helm.

The Broncos will play in the West Texas tournament March 7 and 8 in Borger. They will face off against Friona in the first game of the tourney.
