With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Tina Joy Copelin Ferris. She was born April 15, 1968, in Pocatello Idaho to Wayne, Sr., and Joan Copelin. She passed away on March 2, 2025, in Clarendon.
From an early age, Tina showed a unique ability to tune in to the needs of people who were sick or ailing in some way. She began her career caring for others at Clarendon Nursing Home. She took her affinity for health care and completed a vocational nursing program at South Plains College to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She worked at various facilities in the Panhandle until she ended up at Swisher Memorial Hospital where she met her devoted and loving husband, Scotty Ferris.
Tina and Scotty married June 3, 2006, in Clarendon. The two would end up making their home in Clarendon with Scotty continuing his career working as a paramedic for Clarendon EMS, and Tina becoming a stay at home mom to her two beloved children. With great sorrow, Tina lost a set of twins, but with much love and excitement, she later announced to the world that she was able to cut the umbilical cord on her newborn son, Jerami in 1994. With just as much excitement and love, she announced she was able to cut the umbilical cord on her newborn daughter, Abigail in 1996. This tiny, feisty mamma bear was extremely proud of her two children. She would tell anyone and everyone of their accomplishments. From Jerami having a degree in Computer Science from WTAMU to him working for Visa in Austin Texas. From Abby having a Masters in Psychology from WTAMU to Abby’s marriage to Caleb Cobb, and her latest and greatest blessing, the birth of her precious grandson Moses Casey Cobb.
Despite having M.S. and being ill for many years, Tina was the matriarch of her small, but loving family. She was like a tiny Killdeer spreading her wings to face any obstacle she felt was interfering or trying to harm her family in any way. That is the legacy she has left behind for her family and friends to remember her by.
She leaves behind her husband, Scotty of Clarendon, her son Jerami of Austin, her daughter Abby and husband Caleb stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC, her mother Joan Copelin of Clarendon, her in-laws Tom and Frances Ferris of Wayside, and brother-in-law Danny and wife Debra, brothers Wayne Jr. Copelin and wife Rhonda, Ernie Copelin and wife Tangela, sisters Joanne Barton and husband Jack, Laura Luttrell and husband Mark, and Erin Osburn, and her adored and treasured grandson, Moses. And many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Copelin, and one nephew, Roper Copelin.
Memorial services will be Friday, March 7, at Calvary Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. in Clarendon.
Arrangements are under the direction Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
