Mearlene Hooker-Scott, age 77, of Clarendon, died Saturday, May 5, 2012 in Amarillo.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Mobeetie with Curtis Johnson, pastor of New Beginnings Baptist Church of Amarillo and Carlos Rodriguez, grandson officiating. Burial will be at Mobeetie Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Scott was born in Mobeetie. She graduated from Mobeetie High School in 1952. She moved to Amarillo in 1954. She worked in food service at the Amarillo Air Force Base for several years, until it closed. She also worked in food service at Albertsons and retired from the food service department of the TDCJ Clements Unit.
Mrs. Scott loved to cook and bake for her family and others. She also enjoyed crocheting. She married Bill Scott in 1952 at Clovis. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She also enjoyed studying the genealogy of her family.
She is survived by her husband of the home, 3 daughters, Ginger Scott Freitas and Brenda Long, both of Amarillo and Lisa Lethco and her husband Mark of Ding Dong; 2 sons, Russell Scott and his wife Monica and Robert Scott and his wife Suzette all of Amarillo; 5 sisters, Peggy Shelton of Perryton, Ellen Moore of Tucson, AZ, Joyce McIntire of Amarillo, Inez Moore and Sue Harrison both of Mobeetie; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial donation to the First United Methodist Church of Mobeetie.
