Kelly Scott Overstreet, 41, died Friday, August 8, 2008, in Shamrock.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2008, in the First Baptist Church in Wellington with Rev. James McCloud and Rev. Kevin Everett, officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2008, in New Velma Cemetery in Velma, Oklahoma, with Rev. Ron Baker, officiating. Services are under the arrangement of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Kelly was born March 7, 1967, in Borger to Ken and Karen Wallace Overstreet. He had been a prison guard for TDCJ of Childress. He had been a resident of Wellington for 13 years and served as a Deputy Sheriff for the Collingsworth County Sheriffs Office and had moved to Shamrock 6 months ago to become a police officer for the Shamrock Police Department. He had received a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Tech University. He was a certified TCLOSE peace officer. He served in the US Army for four years and was stationed in Alaska. He had planned to start working towards achieving a Master’s Degree very soon. He was a beloved son, brother, and loving father. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wellington.
Survivors include his parents, Ken W. Overstreet and Karen Overstreet of Glenpool, OK; his fiancé, Sherry Youngblood of Atlanta, Georgia; two sons, Nicholas Scott Overstreet of Shamrock and Kenneth William Overstreet of Clarendon; two daughters, Brittney Leigh-Ann Overstreet of Shamrock, and Taylor Danielle Overstreet of Clarendon; two brothers, Kevin Overstreet and wife Elizabeth of Lubbock, and Keith Overstreet of Glenpool, Okla.
