James Loffett Ashcraft, 85, died Thursday, September 11, 2008, in Amarillo.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Lance Wood, pastor, and Don Stone, officiating. Burial followed at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Services were under the arrangement of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
James was born January 30, 1923, in Lakeview to John and Rena Jackson Ashcraft. He married Eloise Hinton on January 15, 1950, in Clarendon. She preceded him in death on January 30, 1988. He then married Billie Ruth Jackson on April 26, 1991, in Clarendon. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2004. He had been a resident of Clarendon since 1936. He was a US Army World War II veteran. He had been a welder and a farmer for most of his life. He was a member of the VFW. He was also an active member First Baptist Church in Clarendon and the Men’s Brotherhood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Terry Ashcraft and wife Valorie of Clarendon, and Teddy Ashcraft of Clarendon; three grandchildren, Aaron Ashcraft, Shane Ashcraft and wife Mecca, and Kasi Anderson and husband Gary; and one great grandchild, Jace Anderson.
The family requests memorial contributions be to BSA Hospice.
