Oleta Bell Koontz Moffett, age 87, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, in Amarillo.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, in the First Baptist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Lance Wood, Pastor, officiating and Jerry Koontz, her nephew, assisting.
Interment was in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with arrangements by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Mrs. Moffett was born February 23, 1921, in Donley County. She was the twelfth of thirteen children born to Ulysses Grant Koontz and Mary Belle Mangus Koontz. She married Curtis W. Moffett on September 21, 1943, in Clarendon. They farmed in Donley County until the early 1990s. She was a housewife. She was an inspiration to her family and the ones close to her. She became blind in 1973 but continued to prepare meals, wash dishes, do laundry, and keep house until August 1999 without complaint. She never got to visually see her grandchildren and great grandchildren, but she could describe them better than those who could see them. She had a keen memory; and whenever someone in the family needed to know when something happened, she would be the one to ask.
She was preceded in death by her husband on January 22, 2000, and her parents.
Survivors include two sons, Lanny Moffett and wife Jondel, Lyndel and wife Carolyn both of Clarendon; a daughter, Cheryl Phillips of Clarendon; seven grandchildren, Chris Phillips and wife Candra, Brendan Moffett and wife Danielle, Deana Phillips, Lana Jarvis and husband David, Tessa Moffett, Cindy Sadler and husband David, and Bud Courtney and wife Diana; 11 great grandchildren; and Otha Eddleman of Claude.
