Michael Glenn Sloan, 58, died Friday, March 28, 2008, in Clarendon.
Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, in Citizens Cemetery with Rev. Bryan Knowles, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial was at Citizens Cemetery. Services were under the arrangement of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Mike was born February 10, 1950, in Clarendon to Glenn W. and Lavonia Swinney Sloan and had been a resident of Clarendon much of his life. He was a bricklayer most of his life and a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Union. He was also a member of the Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon.
He was preceded in death by his mother and by a brother, Gary Sloan.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Shields of Clarendon; his father, Glenn W. Sloan of Clarendon; two sons, Michael Sloan and Steven Sloan of Colorado; two step sons, Spencer Shields of Clarendon and Scott Knox and wife Stacy of Keene; a sister, Vicki Sloan of Clarendon; two grandchildren, Libby Knox and Nicholas Knox of Keene; two nieces, Krista Percival of Clarendon and Theresa Meyer of Lubbock; a great nephew, Christopher Meyer of Lubbock; and many friends and other family members.
The family requests memorials be to Clarendon AA Chapter.
