Dean Ray Winkcompleck,69, died Wednesday, November 26, 2008, in Amarillo.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2008, in the First United Methodist Church in Groom with Rev. Wilbur Wooton, family member, and Rev. Weldon Rives, Pastor, officiating. Burial was held at Groom Cemetery in Groom. Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Dean was born January 2, 1939, in Claude to Melvin and Blanche Miller Winkcompleck. He married Helen Mae Wooton on February 14, 1979, in Amarillo. He had been a resident of Claude before moving to Groom in 1979. He was a US Navy Veteran. He also loved his family and grandchildren. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Groom.
He was preceded in death by his father; his wife on December 4, 2005; a son, Wayne Horton in 1973; and a daughter, Regina Carol Manker.
Survivors include his mother, Blanche Winkcompleck of Wichita Falls; three sons, Jerry Winkcompleck and wife Elizabeth of Amarillo, Samuel Ray Horton and wife Faye of Peru, Okla., and Douglas Horton and wife Michelle of Osage, Okla.; three daughters, Ellen Gray and husband Ed of Groom, and Angela Goss and husband Robin Oglesby of Lewisburg, KY, Lisa Singleton and husband Randy of Frisco; a brother, Joe Winkcompleck of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Doris Thielker of Ocean Springs, MS, and Janiece Kiefer of Terrell; 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be to the First United Methodist Church in Groom.
