On Tuesday, January 15, the Hedley Owls hosted the McLean Tigers, and beat ‘em 56 – 44. The Evans twins led the team in scoring, with Brandon scoring 21 while Bryan added 16. Wyatt Wheatly continued to consistently add scoring punch, tallying 15 points. Rooster Moore and Coltin Kingston each scored two points in addition to pulling in the bulk of the Owls’ boards – Coltin with 7 and Rooster grabbing 6.
The game was a re-union of sorts, and the McLean Tigers were well coached by Coach Bain’s high school buddy, Brandon Word.
The following Friday, January 18, the Owls travelled to Groom for a game against a tougher group of Tigers – the Groom Tigers. Hedley played a very good game before finally falling 57 -41. The Owls had difficulty keeping up with overall team speed, physical play, and shooting skills of the Groom Tigers. The Owls competed hard and have nothing to hang their heads about. Coltin Kingston led the Owls in scoring and rebounding with 12 rebounds and 13 points. Bryan Evans scored 10 points and pulled in 3 rebounds, while Brandon Evans added 8 points and 3 rebounds. Wyatt Wheatly scored 6 points and muscled 9 rebounds. Rooster Moore and David Bell added 2 points and a rebound each.
The following Tuesday, January 22, Hedley hosted the Silverton Owls in a rematch where, feathers, once again, flew, with Hedley winning easily 43 – 24. Coltin Kingston completed his second double-double in a row, scoring 12 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Wyatt Wheatly also played well, adding 11 points and 8 rebounds. Brandon Evans scored 8 points and pulled-in 5 rebounds, while Bryan Evans contributed 6 points and 2 rebounds. David Bell added four points, and Diego Souza grabbed 3 rebounds and scored 2 points.
The Owls closed out the week by travelling to Kress and getting beat by the Kangaroos 36 – 27. Brandon Evans led the Owls in scoring with 11 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. Coltin Kingston continued to provide control of the boards with 6 rebounds and adding 7 points. Wyatt Wheatly added 6 points and 10 rebounds.
The Owls host Valley High School on Tuesday, January 29, and then travel to McLean on Friday, February 1.
Lady Owls split two games last week

The Hedley Lady Owls hosted the Silverton Lady Owls, and were beaten 51 – 32 on Tuesday, January 22.
Kati Adams led the Hedley scorers with 17 points. She was the only player in double figures.
On Friday, January 25, the Lady Owls travelled to Kress and beat the Lady Kangaroos 39 to 27. Bailey Wood scored 21 points for Hedley, Salem Shelp added 8 points, and Kati Adams contributed 6 points.
The Lady Owls host Valley High School Tuesday, January 29, then travel to McLean on Friday, February 1. They then close out their season next Tuesday, February 5, when they host Groom.
