Sade Rae Cobb and Paul Goetze exhibited the top animals in the Beef Division during the annual Donley County Junior Livestock Show last Saturday at the Clarendon Community Center.
Cobb’s Grand Champion Steer was purchased by Clarendon Outpost, Clarendon Veterinary Hospital, Floyd’s Automotive Supply, James T. Shelton Law Office, and Community Bank; and Goetze’s Grand Champion Heifer was purchased by Herring Bank Buyer’s Club, including the Herring directors and the Cooke Ranch.
Other top winners were Austin Adams and his Grand Champion Lamb, purchased by Potts & Potts, Shannon Farms, Wishcamper Oil, Frank’s Napa Auto, and Hobbs Earth Moving; Marlee Sargent’s Grand Champion Goat was purchased by K. Huddleston Sales and the Donley County Gin; the Grand Champion Swine shown by Dustin Willyard was purchased by Herring Bank; and Madison Shield’s Grand Champion Gilt was purchased by the Donley County State Bank.
A total of 76 young people from the Donley County 4-H Club and local FFA chapters showed 103 animals. Last year 70 kids showed 97 animals.
As of Monday morning, figures showed the sale brought in approximately $32,500, which is down from the $35,000 raised last year. That number may increase in the final tally as more donations are received.
In the Heifer Division, Paul Goetze received the Senior Showmanship award, and the Junior Showmanship award went to Trevor Cobb. Sade Cobb received the Senior Showmanship in the Steer Division, and Junior Showmanship went to Jayson Pigg.
Dustin Willyard took home the Senior Showmanship honors in the Swine Division, Tres Hommel got the Junior Showmanship honors, and Hanna Hommel received the Peewee Showmanship.
Ty Tubbs received the Senior Showmanship award in the Lamb Division, Kenzie Perryman took home the Junior Showmanship, and Taylor Perryman got the Peewee Showmanship.
The Senior Showmanship in Goats went to Jenci White, the Junior Showmanship went to Marlee Sargent, and Peewee Showmanship was won by Hanna Hommel.
