James L. “Jimmy” Kuhn, 92, died Monday, March 31, 2014, in Amarillo.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the Church of Christ in Clarendon with Don Stone, officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Burial will follow at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.
Jimmy Kuhn was born October 20, 1921, in Breckenridge, Texas to James L. and Fostina Gude Arrington Kuhn. He married Armenta “Pat” Mathers on July 17, 1941, at Albany, Texas. Mr. Kuhn had served his country in the US Army Air Corps and was a veteran of World War II. Jimmy graduated from Texas Tech with a civil engineering degree and was in a corps of engineers that built Army bases and water dams. His engineer corps engineered and established Greenbelt Lake and the pipeline for the communities that the lake would serve. Jimmy moved from Childress to Clarendon in 1968 to serve as the General Manager at Greenbelt Water Authority. Mr. Kuhn had also served as mayor of the City of Clarendon and was a member of the Clarendon Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pat Kuhn on December 3, 2012; a son, James L. Kuhn, Jr.; and a daughter Patricia Harris.
He is survived by a son, Robert Kuhn and wife Kay of Amarillo; a brother Bill Alexander and his wife Lea of Tuscola, Texas; 7 grandchildren, Jim D. Harris, Christie Lee Schmelter, Tony Kuhn, Renee’ Thompson, Kelcy Williams, Brandon Kuhn, Devin Kuhn; 17 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
