The Clarendon Broncos have been practicing since the first week of August and will go up against Bovina this Friday, August 15, at 5:00 p.m. in Bronco Stadium.
The 44 athletes out for football this season will test their skills in a scrimmage this week to get a feel of where they are as they prepare for their 2014 season. According to head coach Gary Jack, the players have been working hard.
“We have a good group of guys this year,” Jack said. “Right now we have 44 playing and really have a good chemistry. We are still pretty young with a few seniors. So we will probably be starting a lot of sophomores.” Jack said they are looking forward to getting things started and will travel to Electra for another scrimmage on the August 22. The Broncos will have a little time to hone their skills and gel as a team as they trudge through their pre-district schedule in the next few weeks.
“Our pre-district schedule is fairly tough,” Jack said. “The teams we have early in our schedule all reached the play offs last year. But so far we are pleased with their effort.”
