A 0-42 Highland Park shut out shows the huge obstacles the Broncos have to overcome this season as they continue in their tough pre-district schedule.
They will face tough teams in their schedule as they continue to work hard in practice.
“We are playing hard and working hard,” head coach Gary Jack said. “But we have faced some tough challenges, and we have a two more tough games before district starts.”
The Hornets got to the Broncos early and scored 28 points in the first half of the game.
“They are a good team,” Jack said. “They hurt us early by getting a quick start.”
The Broncos have already been plagued with injuries; some season-ending injuries that will hurt them.
“We need to survive the next two weeks and hopefully we will get some kids back for district,” Jack said. “The guys have had to play several different positions and have done a good job for us. There are bright spots, but we just have less experience at some of those positions.”
Jack noted that Keandre Cortez, Zach Watson, Zack Laroe and Caleb Cobb did a good job the other night against HP. He also recognized Montana Hysinger as doing a great job on both sides of the ball.
“We are gaining experience for district,” Jack said. “And I appreciate the effort the guys are putting in. They are working hard in practice and playing hard in the games. We are playing a lot of younger kids, and they are working at getting better.”
The Broncos will travel to Gruver September 19 to take on the Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m.
