4-H shows in Amarillo

Donley County 4H members have been busy in September with exhibits at the Tri-State Fair and the annual club banquet.

Local 4H members had exhibits in the following categories, Clothing & Textiles, Photography, Culinary, Agronomy, Horse Show, Livestock Judging, Poultry, Swine and Beef Projects. Individual results were as follows:

Photography: Chardy Craft, 3rd Place Computer Manipulated Photos, and Izzy Craft, Honorable Mention .

Food: Izzy Craft, 3rd (candies); and Chardy Craft- 3rd (breads).

Textiles & Crafts: Hannah Hommel, 1st Place Sewing (other), 1st Place Ribbon Embroidery; Chardy Craft, 1st Place Handwork (pillow), 2nd Place Jewelry (bracelet), 3rd Place Junior Sewing (recycled clothing); Izzy Craft, 1st Place Junior Sewing (other), 1st Place Junior Sewing (dress); and Laney Gates, 1st Place Junior Sewing (recycled clothing).

Garden/Agronomy: Levi Gates, 2nd Place Melons/other.

Poultry Show: Nathan Estlack, Champion Bantam, Champion Featherleg, 4-H Best of Show; and Ben Estlack, Champion AOCCL, Reserve Champion Featherleg.

Market Steers: Harrison Howard, 1st Place Hereford; Koyt Tucek, 1st Place Shorthorn, 5th Place Cross; Madison Smith, 6th Place American; Kati Adams, 4th Place Class 13 American, 5th Place Class 12 American, 10th Place Cross; Tyler Harper, 10th Place Cross; and Tristen Harper, 12th Place Cross.

Barrow Show: Misti Scott, 5th Place Hamp; and Mya Edwards, 9th Place Cross.

Livestock Judging: 1st Place Jr. Team: Jodee Pigg, Koyt Tucek, Madison Smith, Calder Havens; Jodee Pigg, 1st Individual; Madison Smith, 2nd Place Individual; Kati Adams, and 7th Place Individual (Senior Division).

Horse Show: Brenna Ellis, 2nd Place Penning; Brandalyn Ellis, 2nd Place Penning, 2nd Place Sorting; Blaine Ellis, 2nd Place Penning, 2nd Place Sorting.

During the 2013-14 Donley County 4H Awards Banquet on September 23, almost ninety 4-H members, parents, and guests enjoyed an evening of fun and food and to help honor the hard work of 4H members, leaders, and volunteers.

County Agent Leonard Haynes and 4H officers led the event and awarded the following honors:

Rookie of the Year – Jayde Gribble; I Dare You Award- Hannah Hommel; Rookie of the Year- Laney Gates Friend of 4-H- Virginia Patten; Gold Star Award- Kati Adams; Club Manager- Lindy & Jack Craft; Bronze Star Award- Jodee Pigg & Koyt Tucek; Silver Star Award- Izzy Craft; Outstanding Young Male Member- Payton Havens; and Outstanding Young Female Member- Chardy Craft.
