Clarendon Elementary wins Memphis UIL contest

Clarendon Elementary School students competed in the University Interscholastic League Fall Literary meet on December 9 and 10 at Memphis ISD.

Local students competed well and placed first out of six schools at the meet, earning 367 points.

Other schools at the meet were Wellington with 322 points, Quanah with 262.5, Wheeler with 200, Memphis with 157.5 and Shamrock with 81.

Students, parents, and coaches worked well together, and all their efforts came together at the meet. Clarendon faculty, staff, and administration are all very proud of everyone’s hard work.

Second Grade Creative Writing: Gracie Clark, first; Bella Neal, second; and Bryce Williams, third.

Third Grade Ready Writing: Jaxan McAnear, first; and Easton Frausto, second.

Fourth Grade Ready Writing: Cate Word, first; Makenna Shadle, fifth; and Jayde Gribble, sixth.

Fifth Grade Ready Writing: Madison Smith, second; and Hadleigh Halsell, fifth.

Third Grade Spelling: Nicole Phipps, first; Jaxan McAnear, fourth; and Harrison Howard, sixth.

Third Grade Spelling Team Score: 8 (first place).

Fourth Grade Spelling: Makenna Shadle, second; and Jayde Gribble, fourth.

Fourth Grade Spelling Team Score: 6 (second place).

Fifth Grade Spelling: Samantha Clendaniel, first; Mycah Woodard, fifth; and Gracie Drackley, sixth.
