The Clarendon Broncos left Memphis with no answers in their 11-0 slam-dunk in another district game last Tuesday night. The win put the Broncos at 8-5 overall and 2-0 in district.
Zack LaRoe and Bryce Hatley were on the mound, with LaRoe getting the win. He was able to muster 12 strikeouts in the six innings on the mound and allowed no hits and no runs. Offensively, LaRoe had several hits in the game and hit a homerun in the sixth. Charles Mason, Hatley, Joshua Cobb, and LaRoe combined for six hits and seven RBIs.
The Broncos added four big runs in the bottom of the fourth as Izzy Osburn singled scoring Chance Lockhart and Mason. Hatley then hit a double, bringing home Cobb and Osburn. The Broncos put together another three runs in the sixth inning. Caleb Cobb got things going with a single that scored Hatley and LaRoe followed with his homerun.
“I was very pleased with our game,” coach Brad Elam said. “I thought we hit the ball really well and we limited mistakes.”
On Friday, the Broncos stunned Kress 14-0. They were able to jump on the Kangaroos early and set the rhythm of the game. The Broncos mustered eight runs in the first three innings to gain total control over their opponent.
Caleb Cobb hit an RBI single in the first inning with Zack LaRoe following with a two-run single gave the Broncos the early edge.
Kade Hunsaker was on the edge and did a good job containing Kress’ hitters, who managed only two hits. Hunsaker had no earned runs and struck out five batters while on the mound for four innings.
Offensively, the Broncos stormed the plate racking up five runs in the third inning with five more in the fourth. Several Broncos had good hits in the game.
“We are playing good and practicing hard,” head coach Brad Elam said. “We continue to develop and get better.”
The Broncos will travel to Nazareth on Friday, April 10, and play at Valley on Tuesday, April 14.
