The Clarendon Junior High Student Council was recognized by Mayor Larry Hicks last week for its volunteer service in Prospect Park recently.
Student Council member Kira Weatherton discovered graffiti on picnic tables under the pavilion at the park and told advisor Lisa Grahn that something had to be done. Weatherton then enlisted the help of the student council, who joined her in scraping and re-painting the park benches. The city furnished that paint.
Those helping with the project were Weatherton, Aubrey Jaramillo, Hadleigh Halsell, Darcie Hansaker, Giselle Mellado, Darcy Grahn, Clay Ward, and Samantha Clendaniel.
Mayor Hicks presented Weatherton and Mrs. Grahn with a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the city.
