Jaussetta was born December 24, 1936, in Chillicothe. She attended school in Memphis. She married Leon Rogers and together they welcomed a daughter, Terri. Jaussetta met and married the man she referred to as the love of her life, Raymond Martin, in 1962 in Paducah. They settled in Memphis where they raised their family. Jaussetta worked for many years beside her husband at their business, Williams Oil and Gas. She later opened her own dress shop, The Place for Fashion on Main Street in Memphis. She participated in countless organizations, serving on boards of many of them, and had an enormous passion for her community and love for the people in it. Always the life of the party, and likely the woman in charge of it, Jaussetta is remembered most for her love of life and her family. She was an original.
Jaussetta leaves behind her daughter Terri Floyd of Clarendon, Steve Martin and wife Ginny of Memphis and Danny Ray Martin and wife Vivian of Memphis. She was affectionately referred to as “Granny” by nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, dozens of nieces, nephews, and a host of long-time friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice. Work a crossword puzzle, play cards with friends, be kind to a neighbor. Granny would like that.
