Playing their best game of the year against a good team, the Lady Broncos were one out from getting the job done against West Texas High last week. But a missed fly ball allowed the Lady Comanches to get the go-ahead run to win the game 7-6.
According to head coach Gary Jack, the ladies played a great game.
“This was probably our best overall game start to finish,” he said. “Our pitching was good. Our offense and hitting were good also, and we made good plays on defense. We were hoping to pull it out but didn’t.”
The ladies had tied the game after WT held the early advantage. The game was tied at six with only one out remaining. Jack credited Emily Johnson with a great game at the plate as she posted two triples and one double. He also noted that Jensen Hatley, Brianna Butler, Allyson Hogan, and Briley Chadwick with success at the plate.
“Right now we should be sitting about third (in the district race),” Jack said. “We are right in the mix of things.”
The Lady Broncos will continue their schedule at Fritch on Saturday, April 8, and Tuesday, April 11, at Follett. Both games will begin at 4:00 p.m.
