The Clarendon College Bulldogs are ranked number 10 nationally and number one in the region going into their home game against New Mexico Military Institute this week.
Clarendon has a 7-1 conference record and is 19-2 for the season following a victory over Western Texas College in Synder Monday night. The Bulldogs outscored their opponents in both halves of the game to defeat WTC, 84-70.
Donchevell Nugent led the scoring for Clarendon with 23 points. Also scoring were Russell Harrison 17, Elijah Gonzales 15, Michael Underwood 10, Esahia Nyiwe 9, Da’Vantre Vitor 4, Dimitar Pandev 4, and Jokorl Pal 2.
The Bulldogs had climbed as high as number six on the National Junior College Athletic Association poll before slipping back to number 10 this week. The Western Junior College Athletic Association this week has Clarendon number one in the region.
The CC men will face NMMI Thursday night at 6 p.m. at home in the Dawg House.
The Lady Bulldogs fell to Western Texas Monday night 50-71. The CC women are 0-7 in conference play and 13-10 for the season. Scoring Monday for Clarendon were Jayla Johnson 19, Carria Smith 14, Mahogany Nails 3, Taylor Sparks 3, Nay Dawson 3, Olivia Shannon 3, Kelzie Orr 3, and Jade Nails 2.
