Despite lower rushing yards by the Broncos, Clarendon still managed to get a 14-8 win over the Cyclones in Memphis on Friday night. The win put the Broncos at 6-1 overall and 1-0 in District play.
“It was not a pretty win, but it was a win,” head coach Clint Conkin said. “We only had 186 rushing yards.”
Jordan Herndon scored the two touchdowns for the Broncos and carried the ball 10 times for 35 total yards. Sophomore Sylvester Ballard rushed for 85 yards with nine carries on the night, and Lamarcus Peniger carried three times and averaged a little over 10 yards each run for 32 total yards. Jmaury Davis and Aaron Roys got in on the action as well with 16 and 18 yards respectively.
“We had several guys making tackles on defense,” Conkin said.
The Broncos have time to rest as they are open this week. They will take on Wellington at home on October 23. Kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m.
