The Clarendon College Rodeo teams traveled to Sweetwater where Ranger College hosted the event this past weekend. The men’s team finished on top and brought home two event championships as well.
Cole Franks won the bareback riding and the All-Around buckles, and Cauy Pennington won the saddle bronc riding buckle.
All three CC bareback riders qualified for the short round with Rickey Williams scoring 62 points in the long round and 67 in the short round. Weston Patterson was 67 points in the long and 72 in the short rounds to finish 6th in the average, and Franks won the long round with an 82 point ride and was 75 in the short go to win the average.
In the saddle bronc riding, Cash Wilson had 74 and 79 point rides to finish 3rd in the average, and Keene Justesen finished 2nd in the average with his 75 and 79 point rides. Cole Franks tied for 2nd in the long round with a 76 point ride but bucked off in the short go finishing 6th in the average. Cauy Pennington won both the long and short rounds with his 77 and 81 point rides to win the event.
Weston Patterson qualified for the short round in the steer wrestling as well with 5.4 second run in the long round and 6.3 seconds run in the short round finishing 4th in the average.
Team ropers Seth Waldron and Jett Smith had a 6.4 time in the long round but missed their steer in the short round. In the bull riding, Dawson Gleaves won the long round with his 82 point ride but failed to make the whistle in the short round.
The CC rodeo team will travel to Big Spring April 8-10 for the Howard College rodeo.
