Guymon, Okla., resident Dorothy L. Haar, 72, passed away Friday, January 6, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart, Kan.
The daughter of Betrice (Aaron) and Stanford Odell Johnson, she was born April 26, 1933, in Groom. Dorothy attended Stratford schools and was united in marriage to J.B. Jacobs in 1951, and they had three children: Suzanne, John, and Randy Jacobs. She later married Edward Haar in 1967, and they added their children, Tyra and Kent Haar, to their family. Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Ed Haar passed away in 1994, and Dorothy continued to manage the family farm. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne and husband Steve Nix of Liberal, Kansas, and Tyra and husband Larry Dean Combs of Holcomb, Kansas; three sons, John Jacobs and wife Charnelle of Guymon, Randy Jacbos and wife Monne of Edmond, and Kent Haar of Guymon; two sisters, Mildred and husband Boyd Baxter of Lelia Lake and Linda and husband Buster Gray of Clarendon; two brothers, Gene Johnson and wife Helen of Dewey, Arizona; and Jerry Johnson and wife Angie of Farley, New Mexico; twelve grandchildren: Brandi and Bryan Jacobs, Karalyn Fontes, Tanner and Payton Jacobs, Brandon and Sheabree Nix, McKenzie and Gracen Becker, Taylor, Sahayla, and Breckyn Haar; seven great grandchildren: Brighton and Reese Windham; Jacob Moore; Rain, Sage, Judah, and Hannah Jacobs; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister – Vicki Johnson, and a brother – Bill Johnson.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 10, at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Guymon, Okla., with Rev. Terry Armstrong, pastor and Rev. Jerry Johnson, pastor of the First Assembly of God in Springer, New Mexico, officiating. Interment followed in Elmhurst Cemetery.
