Funeral services for Lily B. Pafford Bagwell, age 93, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2005, in the First Baptist Church in Claude with Rev. Jess Little, Pastor, and Rev. Brett Hoyle of Claude, officiating. Burial was held in Claude Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. Bagwell died Sunday, January 9, 2005, in Claude. She was born January 5, 1912, to J.L. and Beaulah Pafford in Armstrong County. She was the youngest of their children. She graduated from Claude High School in 1929 and earned a bachelor degree from West Texas State Teaching College in 1933. She married Ralph Bagwell on November 4, 1934, in Claude. They were engaged in farming southeast of Claude and lived in Armstrong County all of their lives. She was a homemaker, active in the community and the First Baptist Church. She was a Charter Member of the Unity Study Club. Her hobbies were reading and playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband on January 13, 1998; by her parents; and by one brother and four sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Goin and husband Wendell of Garden Ridge, Texas, and Nancy Gillispie and husband Don of Claude; five grandchildren, Melanie Haines of Maryland, Lisa Johnson of Germany, Cheryl Sherrer of Amarillo, Joe Gillispie of Lubbock, and Charles Gillispie of Claude; and twelve grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to the Claude Cemetery Association, c/o Judge Reed, Claude, Texas 79019 or to a favorite charity.
