Funeral services for James Arthur “JA” Glisson, Sr., age 59, were at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2005, in Robertson Chapel of Memories, with Rev. Bryan Knowles, Pastor of Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon, officiating. Burial was held in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mr. Glisson died Monday, May 2, 2005, in Amarillo. He was born February 12, 1946, in Borger and had been a resident of Amarillo most of his life. He married Sharon Kay Wilson on May 28, 1977, at Logan, New Mexico. He was employed for several years in the road construction business by Gilven-Terrell. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Glisson; and by two brothers, Wayne Glisson and Lee Glisson.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Amarillo; his mother, Ethel Glisson of Amarillo; a sister, Paula Hall of Amarillo; his children, James Glisson II and Alvin Glisson, both of Amarillo, Angela Copas of Oklahoma, Melissa Velarde and husband Joseph of El Paso, and Leland Glisson and wife Cara of California; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Casket bearers were Emmett Hall, Pat Curry, Emmett Hall III, Colby Hall, Dusty Hall, and Barry Cooper. Honorary bearers were Eric Hall, James Liles, and Rodney Evans.
The family requests that memorials be to Odyssey Hospice in Amarillo.
