Funeral services for Ardis Evelyn Vallance, age 86, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2005, in the First Baptist Church in Memphis with Rev. Darrell Burton, Pastor of the Martin Baptist Church in Clarendon, officiating. Burial was held in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. Vallance died Friday, May 13, 2005, in Clarendon. She was born October 31, 1918, in Roberts County and had lived in Clarendon and Memphis most of her life. She married Richard “Dick” Vallance on January 12, 1935, at Childress. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Vallance on April 16, 1999; by her parents, L.O. and Carrie Foster Dennis; and by a brother, Bennie Dennis.
Survivors include three daughters, Cherrye Howard of Memphis, Dolfia Hearn and husband Billy of Montgomery, and Linda Tomlinson and husband Mack of Denton; a son, Richard Vallance and wife Kay of Amarillo; a brother, W.C. Dennis of Memphis; a sister-in-law, Fleta Hunt of Fort Worth; a nephew, Eddie Dennis of Dallas; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 19 great great grandchildren.
