Services for Lewis L. Foxhall, 88, of Memphis were at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2004, at the Saint John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Clarendon with Rev. Ned Creswell officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis.
Mr. Foxhall died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, in Memphis.
He was born on May 18, 1916, in Jacksboro, Texas, to Mr. F.N. and Mrs. Sarah Lyles Foxhall. He graduated from Memphis High School and then attended the University of Texas, graduating in 1940. He attended the University of Texas Law School and then worked for the Texas Attorney General’s office in Austin.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in World War II as a pilot of the C-47 troop transports in Europe. He married Lois Sager on October 31, 1949 in Dallas, TX. She preceded him in death on July 16, 1989. Lewis was a retired farmer and rancher and a member of the Saint John the Baptist Episcopal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Frank Foxhall, Lesley Foxhall, Ed Foxhall, and Harold Foxhall; and one sister, Emma Foxhall Deaver.
He is survived by one son, Lewis E. Foxhall, M.D., and his wife Barbara of Houston; two daughters, Nene Foxhall Jetton and her husband Steve of Houston and Carol Foxhall Petterson and her husband Pete of Alpine; two grandchildren, Emily Lois Foxhall and Travis Lewis Foxhall, both of Houston.
The family suggests memorials be made to Saint John the Baptist Episcopal Church, PO Box 1078, Clarendon, TX, 79226. Graveside services for Letha Ann Adams, age 90, were held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2004, in Citizens Cemetery with Rev. Bryan Knowles, Pastor of the Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. Adams died Sunday, July 18, 2004, in Amarillo. She was born February 22, 1914, in Kirkland, Texas. She married Robert Emerson Adams on November 1935. They lived in the Wayside Community most of their lives, where they farmed, and where Mr. Adams was a mechanic. In 1981, they moved to Clarendon. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Palo Duro Nursing Home in Claude. She was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Clarendon.
She was preceded in death by her husband on May 2, 1992, and by two sisters and one brother.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Adams of Clarendon and Leslie Adams of Canyon; eight grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
