Funeral services for Edna Louise Mann Carter, age 74, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2004, in the First Baptist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Truman Ledbetter, retired pastor, officiating. Burial was held at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. Carter died Tuesday, October 26, 2004, in Amarillo. She was born April 14, 1930, in Clarendon and was a resident of Clarendon until moving to Dumas in 1948. She was employed by the First State Bank in Dumas from 1948 until 1989 when she retired and moved to Pampa. She lived in Pampa from 1989 until returning to Clarendon in 1995. She married Garth Cyrus “Red” Carter on May 28, 1948, in Clarendon. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarendon.
Survivors include her husband, Garth “Red” Carter of Clarendon; two sons, Johnny Carter and wife Deena of Shamrock and Randy Carter of Austin; two sisters, Ruby Turner of Hostell, Texas, and Francis Kennard of Amarillo; and two grandchildren, Dakota Carter and Jacey Carter, both of Shamrock.
The family requests that memorials be made to BSA Hospice in Amarillo.
